Heroes fix things. They jump in at the last minute and save us. We breathe a sigh of relief that another crisis was averted.
And the pain lessens.
That’s good, right?
Unless we’re measuring “the likelihood that a similar crisis will appear in the future.”
Conventional heroes don’t address that metric. To be fair, that’s not their main job.
I think Mitigation of Preventable Crisis should be someone’s main job. I’m looking at you, leader. You’re a damn fine hero, but if you’re not fixing the reason it was a crisis in the first place, I’m willing to wager that no-one else is, either.
Why would they go for the Mitigation role? We’re counting on Heroes.
